Concept Map

My Reflection...

After using the program kidspiration I have learned a few things. This concept map idea would be a great tool to aid in teaching. There are pros and cons to this program. A pro is the option for the links and text links to further inform students with videos and such. A huge con would be the options for creativity are very limited. Overall, this program was okay. Another con would be navigation through it. I thought it was a little difficult to maneuver my way through the program. Again, very limited. If I were to further explore kidspiration I am sure that I would better navigate through it and learn it better. Honestly, since creativity is so limited I probably would not use this in my classroom. I enjoy my things to look pretty. I just did not like that it was so limited. Other than that this program can be used to teach all age groups depending on the details one chooses to incorporate.
The NETS-T standard that I think the concept maps correlate with is number 2A. The standard is Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments, Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote students learning and creativity. This idea of the concept map is perfect to help teach students from technology. This program is relatively easy to navigate through. The students could even use this program and get creative with it.

Introduction

Hello Everyone,
My Name is Mary Kirchner and I am 21 years old. I live in Pass Christian with my boyfriend and our handsome 18 month old son. I am a full time student here at USM Gulf Coast campus along with being a stay at home mom. I love spending time with my family and being at home, but I can not wait to fulfill my life long dream of becoming a teacher. As far a computers and technology, I am not the best. I have taken a few of the required courses to get to where I am today, and I know the "basics" of a computer. I may know a little more than the average person. Well, I know that if I do something wrong, it most likely can be fixed. I believe that technology in the classroom is good and bad. Teachers can access a variety of different tools to aid in teaching, as well as students having access to all the tools. However, I do not agree with students being taught only on computers. I believe hands on is the best way to learn. I do not believe that a student should sit in a classroom with a computer in front of them unless of course it is a computer class.
This blog can be very useful for the NETS-T standard that states to facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. I think this standard is met because a blog can be a great way for students to be creativity. Students can learn how to use this technology, and use it to be creative. The students can think and plan.
